Welcome to my practice
I have been working in the field of learning disabilities since 1989. I started as an educational therapist, providing academic interventions to students with learning disabilities, but I am now exclusively providing psychoeducational assessments as a clinical psychologist licensed in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. My background in interventions is one of the factors that I feel sets me apart from other diagnosticians in the field, as a primary area of focus in my evaluations is on making the connection between the testing process and any necessary interventions. I have studied with some of the leaders in the field of attention and learning disorders. I am particularly indebted to Betty Levinson, Ph.D., my personal mentor, with whom I worked for nearly two decades. I learned a great deal from my work with Betty, and I attempt to emulate her passionate dedication to her clients.
I have presented locally, nationally, and internationally on the diagnosis and remediation of difficulties with learning and attention. I am a co-author of a chapter in the primary textbook for providing interventions for students with learning disabilities (Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills).
I have a commitment to public service, and have played a leadership role locally and nationally in the International Dyslexia Association. I also have served on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center, a center for training teachers to work with students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. In 2008 I was honored by the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center as the Outstanding Professional in field.
Services include assessment, intervention, consultation, and advocacy.

I have worked with Dr. Henley for over 7 years. He is an outstanding clinician who whose expertise is matched only by his compassion for his clients; many of whom struggle with learning disabilities and related challenges such as anxiety and depression. As an instructor of Academic Language Therapists, Dr. Henley closely tracks the emerging neuroscientific research and practice in learning disabilities, with specific emphasis on dyslexia and ADHD. His vast involvement on research boards gives him insights into best practices and evidence-based diagnostic and clinical practice. Dr. Henley is very experienced and skilled in identifying the cause of academic challenges, making a diagnosis, and in recommending effective interventions. His diagnostic evaluations are thorough, and the detailed report provided to parents is a powerful guide for academic decisions. An evaluation by Dr. Henley is an investment, with long-term value.
