Welcome to my practice
I have been working in the field of learning disabilities since 1989. I started as an educational therapist, providing academic interventions to students with learning disabilities, but I am now exclusively providing psychoeducational assessments as a clinical psychologist licensed in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. My background in interventions is one of the factors that I feel sets me apart from other diagnosticians in the field, as a primary area of focus in my evaluations is on making the connection between the testing process and any necessary interventions. I have studied with some of the leaders in the field of attention and learning disorders. I am particularly indebted to Betty Levinson, Ph.D., my personal mentor, with whom I worked for nearly two decades. I learned a great deal from my work with Betty, and I attempt to emulate her passionate dedication to her clients.
I have presented locally, nationally, and internationally on the diagnosis and remediation of difficulties with learning and attention. I am a co-author of a chapter in the primary textbook for providing interventions for students with learning disabilities (Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills).
I have a commitment to public service, and have played a leadership role locally and nationally in the International Dyslexia Association. I also have served on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center, a center for training teachers to work with students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. In 2008 I was honored by the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center as the Outstanding Professional in field.
